In Taiwan, there is a common folk belief that people have three souls and seven senses. Souls belong to the spiritual world while senses belong to the material world. When the soul leaves the physical body, the senses disappear. Based on this cultural belief, this work attempts to explore the relationships between “souls and senses” and “consciousness and body.” The vaulted performance venue becomes an extension of reality, so that under the transformation of media into a space, a scene for rituals related to collective reincarnation is created. Considering Buddhist and folk beliefs about reincarnation, the viewer is encouraged to visualize the body from the perspective of the soul through an inner landscape diagram of the seven senses. As viewers roam in and out of architecture-like consciousness, they reflect on the relationship between spiritual and material worlds through different interpretations of body and soul in ancient and modern times.
